Rook Club
Book Club? Nah homie, Chess Club 🤙🏽
Though still very much a novice, I’ve got a real admiration for the game of chess and don’t play it nearly enough in person. Keen to change that, and curious if there are others who feel the same. I also just really liked the name Rook Club, so here we are. The idea is simple. A semi-regular, in-person catch up to play chess in good company. Parks, rooftops, wine bars, wherever feels right and has a nice vibe. It’s as much about getting people together as it is about the game. In a time where everything feels a bit more volatile and disconnected, this is an easy, low pressure way to socialise, meet people, and get a little better at chess. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a seasoned player, or someone who just enjoys helping others learn, you’re very welcome. Come play, learn, or just spectate. There’ll hopefully be a few laughs, some questionable moves, and some genuinely shit chess puns (yaaas queen/king) ♟️
