13-tile Hong Kong style mahjong 🀄️

We’re the place where LA plays 13-tile Hong Kong style - fast hands, real rules, tiles clacking under the bar noise. Home base is General Lee's in Chinatown, and on any given week the tiles are out at the Bamboo Room, Nico's, or ARC Beverly. There's usually a table running somewhere in the city. Every night seats 2 levels: beginner tables, where someone will walk you through your first wall, and points tables, where the advanced players keep proper score and the pace picks up. A few good nights is all it takes to go from never-touched-a-tile to counting fan like you mean it. We keep things super social - there’s always a good bar, a full table, and people who want to chat. Walk in solo; you'll be in a game before your drink hits the table.

Meet the host

I grew up watching my family play mahjong, and a few years ago I finally sat down and learned the game myself. It stuck harder than I expected. The club started as a way to keep a regular game going between family gatherings, but now it’s taken on a life of its own. Every week now I’m dealing complete strangers into their first hand and watching them get it, and really love it. The game’s been passed across generations for a reason.
