What we’re about
Fencesitter runs jewellery-making workshops at local Melbourne venues — no experience needed, materials included. Each session you'll work with beads, wire, and repurposed op-shop finds to make something you'll actually wear: a charm necklace, a bag charm, a bracelet. The format does something a bit magic. Give people something to make with their hands and the conversation takes care of itself. Small groups, relaxed vibe, wine and snacks on the side. You come for the craft. You stay for the company. Come solo. Leave with jewellery and probably a few new numbers in your phone.

I started Fencesitter to turn op-shop finds into something wearable and get strangers into a room to make things together.
I'm Heather, and Fencesitter started because I couldn't stop making jewellery and couldn't stop thinking other people should be doing it too. Wire, beads, bits and pieces rescued from op shops — it snowballed into workshops, and the workshops became the part I love most. There's something that happens when you give people a craft to work with. The room shifts. People get absorbed in what they're making, and then they look up and realise they've been talking to a stranger for an hour. That's the bit I keep coming back to. Fencesitter is jewellery, yes. But mostly it's an excuse to get people in a room and make something.
