Cool Girls Reading Books

CollingwoodMeeting regularly

Because if you’re not reading a book, what are you doing? ✨💓

I started coolgirlsreadingbooks in 2020 out of a desire for a book community. I was getting back into reading after a post-high-school slump, and all my book recommendations were what others were posting online. My social media feeds were filled with uncredited photos of girls reading. Curious, I would zoom into covers and try to decipher titles. Eventually I ended up searching to see if any pages curated these photos and credited them. When nothing came up, I made one myself. Why “cool girls”? I was a big beauty blog reader in high school, and I never missed a “cool girl” or “french girl” post. While I love the CGRB Instagram community, I’ve been searching for ways to bring it offline, as well. So we’ll be hosting plans to help bring readers together - whether over a matcha in the park or a supper club. I’m really excited to co-build this with you, so any ideas you have around how you’d like to connect, please share them.

Meet the host

I'm Kayley, I'm a writer and (currently) a barista living in Los Angeles. I'm not sure why I'm so dedicated to introducing myself as a barista, but I am. I'm quite devotional. You'll often find me in a cafe reading or writing on my off days. I'm currently reading Kill Dick by Luke Goebel. After that I'm planning on reading The Bell by Iris Murdoch-I got this rec from another girl I interviewed, Anna Jube-but we'll see, I'm bad with commitment.
