Homesick for Hummus Melbourne

MelbourneMeeting regularly

Melbourne's first cookbook club celebrating Levantine heritage - for the diaspora

Homesick for Hummus is a social space for the Levantine diaspora to reconnect with their culture through food. Beginner-friendly, we gather to pick one or two recipes a month to try in our own time, swap notes and learn to cook new dishes! We also meet regularly to try different restaurants and cafes cooking in the same cuisine. Picnics are in the plans for when warmer weather graces Melbourne. We're all about making traditional recipes accessible, starting with basics, from absolute beginners to seasoned home cooks. If you grew up eating homemade hummus or being denied Maccas because there was mujadra at home, this is the group for you! Join us to build community, swap stories, and celebrate the flavors that feel like home.

We're perfect for you if...

  • You want to learn to cook traditional dishes, then swap battle stories
  • You love meeting new people over a shared meal
  • You're part of the Levantine diaspora or a Levantine migrant

Meet the host

I'm a people-person with a firm belief that the best moments to be had in life are around a dinner table with friends. Art-lover, avid reader when I'm not too busy (is that "avid"?), I'm new to Melbourne and looking for new experiences & friends! I'm the kind of foodie who loves to eat but panics in the kitchen, and I'm looking for others who want to learn to cook too!
