Lunchtime Poetry - Prince Alfred Park

Monthly CBD park meetup for poets.

Hey everyone! I wanted to create a Butter event to open up my existing monthly poetry meetup to a few more writers. The vibe is pretty simple: a couple of hours in Prince Alfred Park exchanging poems and stories with strangers, soaking up the winter sun, sipping on a coffee or tea, and touching some grass on a Sunday afternoon. Anyone who’s free afterwards is more than welcome to join me for lunch somewhere nearby—we usually just decide on the day. This meetup is best suited to people who are already writing and are looking for a community of creatives to be part of. It’s a relaxed, supportive space where we can share our work, chat about writing, and meet like-minded people. I originally started Lunch Time Poetry because my work hours make it difficult to get to poetry slams, and I’ve always preferred slow daytime gatherings over late-night events. We have an existing Instagram group chat where we organise future meetups and post any updates on the day, so I’ve linked it below if you’d like to join. One small favour—please only hit Going if you genuinely plan on coming, and please join the group chat if you do. It really helps me keep everyone updated and know roughly how many people to expect. Hope to meet some of you soon! :)

Meet the planner

I moved to Austral about a year ago and still have no idea how to make friends locally, so I’m hoping Butter helps me meet a couple of good people nearby :) A few things I love, in no particular order: writing poetry, making music, trying new cafés, tea, deep conversations, flowers and chess. Honestly, I’m down for almost anything. I’m just getting a little tired of travelling all the way into the city to make friends haha.
