🥾 Hike #4 – Werribee Gorge Circuit

As promised in the social meetup, here is our fourth hike! Have brought this forward a week due to Father’s Day.

Get ready for a hike with a little bit of everything! 🌿⛰️

The Werribee Gorge Circuit takes us through rugged bushland, along the Werribee River and around the spectacular gorge itself. Expect plenty of variety along the way, including rocky trails, steep sections, gorge views and some fun scrambling. 🪨🌊

One of the highlights is the cable-assisted section along the gorge, where we’ll make our way across an exposed section of rock above the river. It’s not a technical climb, but it definitely adds a bit of adventure to the day! 🧗‍♂️

We’ll take the circuit anti-clockwise, making our way through the more adventurous sections before enjoying the gorge and river scenery along the way.

Don’t let the relatively short distance fool you — the rocky and uneven terrain, elevation changes and scrambling make this a more adventurous hike than your typical 7–8 km walk. 😄

🥾 Distance: ~7.6 km

⏱️ Time: ~3–3.5 hours

📈 Difficulty: Moderate

🪨 Terrain: Rocky, uneven & steep in sections

🧗 Adventure: Scrambling + cable-assisted gorge section. Maybe even a swim at Blackwood pool.

🌊 Highlights: Werribee River, gorge views & rugged scenery

⚠️ Weather dependent: Some sections can become slippery after rain, and the river section may become impassable following significant rainfall. We’ll keep an eye on conditions closer to the day.

☕ Post-hike: As always we’ll look at grabbing a coffee or bite to eat afterwards.
