🏔️☃️ winter hikes series: Mt baw baw - blue run

Hi there, join us for the first hike from the Winter Series! 🏔️🗺️😊  First up, a 6.3 km hike in Mount Baw Baw. You can find more info here: Mount Baw Baw: Blue Run

⏰⏰ Itinerary

• 8 am - depart Melbourne CBD (meeting point near the Shrine of Remembrance, flexible if needed)
• 12 pm - arrive and start the trail. Tbh the drive is only 3 hrs but 4 hrs should allow time for lunch and breaks along the way
• 12 to 4 pm - the hike should only take 2 hrs but have allocated 4 hrs leaving plenty of time for photos and rest
• 4 pm - latest departure with dinner stop on the way back
• We should be back in Melb by 5pm for sunset or 8pm by the latest.

🚙🧭 Carpooling

I'm planning to rent a GoGet (will be around $40pp, max 7 people).

If others have a car they'd like to drive, we can arrange to split fuel costs instead.

🌤️🎯 Things to keep in mind:

• Please have done a few hikes and be familiar with what should be expected. The AllTrails guide will be useful.
• Winter clothes (preferably waterproof) including a fleece layer/jacket + warm, waterproof bottoms, grippy/hiking shoes.
• Expect frost and damp ground, dress for sub-zero
• Snacks and lots of water to get you through the trip plus a bag to carry it all
• Powerbank and a fully charged phone. I'll bring first aid items in case

🌤️🎯 What you can expect:

• A challenging but interesting hike that'll push you
• Hopefully some light snow and nice views
• Potentially lifelong friendships if this all goes well

I've done a few hikes around Aus and internationally and have climbed different terrains including glaciers - happy to help guide 😊 In your RSVP note, please clarify if you have experience hiking.

If you can't make this but are still interested in future events, keep an eye out for more winter hikes from myself and co. Also, if the weather turns on the day, we'll switch to a lower elevation trail rather than cancel.
