Book club (Geelong)
Our first book club!
We’ll gather for a relaxed morning of coffee, eats and conversation 🌷
We’re reading The Guernsey and Literary Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, which conveniently includes questions and topics for discussion at the end!
January 1946: Writer Juliet Ashton receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member of the Guernsey and Literary Potato Peel Pie Society. And so begins a remarkable tale of the island of Guernsey during the German occupation, and of a society as extraordinary as its name.
The book is short (sub-300 pages) and easy to find or borrow (I’ve seen many copies in local op shops). As for any book, please take care when reading, and search online for any themes that may be relevant to you. No pressure to have finished - though I doubt conversation will be spoiler-free!
The food and drinks menu is available on Café GO’s website. Please RSVP by EOD Friday, 23 October so I can make a reservation!
