Gellibrand Hill Sunset Hike

Who's up for a sunset hike? 🌅

Join me this Sunday afternoon for a golden hour walk through Woodlands Historic Park, easily one of the best places near Melbourne to see kangaroos in the wild. We'll wander through native bushland and past huge river red gums before heading into the back paddock, where hundreds of kangaroos come out to graze as the day cools down. From there we'll climb up to Gellibrand Hill just in time for sunset, with sweeping views over the city skyline, Melbourne Airport and the distant ranges. And if we're lucky, we'll catch the full moon rising on the way back down! The trail is roughly 11km and should take around 2.5 hours at a relaxed group pace, with plenty of time at the top to soak in the sunset and grab some photos. We'll be hiking back down in the dark, so a head torch is a must! 📅 Sunday 27th September ⏰ 4:30pm–7.30pm 📍 Woodlands Historic Park, Victoria ➡️ 11km / approx. 2.5 hours 🥾 Moderate level 🎟️ Ticket Price: $20 donation to Wildlife Victoria There are limited tickets available and it's first in first serve, so get in quick! 🙏 Please be aware that participants are responsible for their own safety throughout the walk. Part of this hike will be done after dark, so please bring a head torch (a phone torch won't cut it!) and a warm layer, as it can get chilly once the sun goes down. The terrain is mostly gravel tracks with some uneven sections and inclines, so appropriate footwear is essential. Please also bring your own snacks and water for the duration of the hike. 😊
