Bear Walk | The Tan
Inner-exploration is a vibe!
Join a chill stroll amongst the legends of an established kindred community (Centre of You) whom value authenticity, inner-exploration & the path to self-understanding.
Centre of You (COY) was, between 2020-2025 a physical studio space on Chapel St, Melbourne. COY currently doesn’t have a physical anchor so we’re inviting the community out into the wild!
What's Bear Walk?
Honestly? We're just going for a walk.
You can spend the whole walk in conversation, wander introspectively alongside others or swap between the two.
Come as socially available as you actually authentically are.
All welcome. Just register so we know which bears we’re expecting.
🌿 Monday 12 October: 6:30pm
👀 Meeting place: Grasslands on the corner of Anderson St & Domain Rd.
Bear necessities (FAQs):
What's the roadmap for this gathering?
We'll meet the pack at 6:30pm and give everyone a little time to arrive and find their fellow bears. At 6:45pm, we'll set off clockwise around The Tan. At gate H we'll roam through the gardens towards and through Fern Gully (avoiding the Anderson St hill) before finishing back where we began.
How are these particular bears kindred?
'Kindred' within this community means high values around authenticity, self-understanding, meaningful connection and doing better once better is known. We, as a community, align with the belief that inner-exploration is a vIbe.
Is this a mental health support group?
Bear Walk is a community gathering, not therapy or a mental health support group. You may be met with current menty health challenges - those are common in our shared humanity. You might be emerging from hibernation, living your most socially abundant life, or simply fancy a walk among the kindred.
Are bear hugs encouraged?
Being held in a hug can be a beautiful experience.
However, how someone feels about being embraced can change from one day (or moment) to the next. Always ask before going in for a bear hug. "Are you open to a hug?" is always encouraged. "No thank you" is a complete answer.
My doggo said they want to come - can they?
YES. We are highly supportive of doggie dopamine hits and suspect doggos will make excellent honorary bears.
Dogs will need to remain on-lead.
Is Bear Walk a fitness event? How long / far is it?
We're here to move our bodies, get outside and wander among community. We'll aim for a pace that keeps the pack feeling like a pack. We'll be walking approximately 4km. Allow 60-75 minutes from hello to goodbye.
Will there be photos / video?
We'll likely capture a few little glimpses of us bears out in the wild, but never at the expense of you feeling comfortable being there. If you'd rather stay off camera, just let us know when you arrive, no explanation needed and we'll make sure you're kept out of frame.

Meet the planner
I believe deliberate life design is a thing. As such, I dreamt up a community centre & that dream came true! For 5 yrs I operated Centre of You down Chapel St & 15,000 times, legends arrived at our doors. After a recent rock-bottom fuelled by burnout, I’m now entering a new dreaming again phase in preparation for whatever emerges next. I value community, connection & inner-exploration. I love things with smiley faces.
