Dive into the bestseller’s thorny themes

“It’s easy to go everywhere when you’re the one who sets the traps.”

You close the book. Your head is spinning with thoughts. Now there’s finally a space to share them!

Third Space takes on the best-selling novel Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke - and you’re invited!

Your ticket includes:

  • A seat at the Third Space table with strangers-turned-friends over an evening of juicy, winding conversation about everything from the thorny and nuanced terrain covered in Yesteryear to the author’s podcast and wherever the conversation flows after that.
  • A special guest from Sydney University who is an expert in paid & unpaid labour and how expectations of busyness and rest present differently across gender
  • A delectable cheeseboard spread laid down the centre of the table, courtesy of Sappho Books, CafĂ© & Bar - one of Sydney’s most beautiful and iconic second-hand bookstores
  • Our signature prompt cards so there’s never a dull moment
  • A keepsake to take home from us
  • A lucky door prize
  • Access to our Substack subscriber-exclusive Curriculum - a guide that takes you beyond the book through related texts and reflection questions so you can arrive ready to discuss or keep digging long after the night ends.

Bring your hottest take - and a friend - and we’ll see you there!

Rules of engagement

We bring friends and strangers together to talk about things that matter. Sometimes that means social norms, identity, and politics - things with nuance that people don’t always agree on, but that’s what makes conversations meaningful and memorable.

We ask our attendees to assume good faith, give people space to learn and form their thoughts in real time.

We meet in shared, public venues, so we are mindful and respectful of staff and other patrons.

Your ticket includes

  • Access to Sydney Uni special guest
  • Delectable spreads of cheeseboard & fruit
  • A seat at our private table at Sappho’s
  • Access to our conversation prompt cards
  • A keepsake from us
  • Chance at a lucky door prize
  • Access to our curated curriculum

Meet the planner

Third Space is Sydney’s culture salon. Every few weeks, we take a film, book, album or trending concept and give a room of people somewhere to actually talk about it. Our goal is two-fold: create ripe environments for conversation and connection, and bring patronage to small businesses (pubs, cafes, cinemas, bookstores).
